Ah! So This Is Why Miley Cyrus Went Through That Weird ‘Sticking Out Her Tongue’ Phase

Remember when Miley Cyrus shed her innocent Hannah Montana image and became that naked, swinging on a wrecking ball girl with a pixie cut?

Her style at the time wouldn’t have been complete without her tongue hanging out of her mouth, and the 24-year-old singer has just explained why she did it.

“I was so ­embarrassed to be on the red carpet,” she explained in a new interview with Billboard. “So many of those fucking disgusting ­photographers would tell me to blow a kiss, and that’s not me! I don’t want to blow you a kiss.

“I didn’t know what to do with my face, so I stuck my tongue out, and it became a rebellious, punk-rock thing.”

Now that she’s a bit older, Miley has decided to avoid these red carpet appearances from now on. She prefers to keep a low profile, hanging out with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth at their home in Malibu.

She said to Billboard, “I don’t do red carpets, and I just don’t put myself in positions where I feel uncomfortable anymore,” she said. “I don’t have to.”

Miley loves her new, relaxed lifestyle, and will be releasing a new love song about what she’s up to on 11 May.

We can’t wait to hear what her new music sounds like… It’ll be topping the charts no doubt.
