Everything We Know About Olivia Rodrigo’s New Album

After wrapping up her Guts tour, 23 year-old artist Olivia Rodrigo has been teasing her upcoming album, which fans had previously dubbed ‘OR3’. 

Last week, Olivia wiped her Instagram account and posted her new album cover, a photo of her swinging upside down in a pink pinup style dress. She announced the name of the album, ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’, and that it is set to release on June 12th. 

Adding to the caption, she said: “I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

The singer rose to fame after releasing her iconic song ‘Driver’s License’ in 2021, when she was only 17. Since then she’s released two albums, her debut Sour in 2021 and Guts in 2023, which both fit into a unique purple aesthetic that she had built for herself.

Now, fans suspect she’s looking to rebrand, as her teasers for this next album experiment more with pinks and reds. It looks like this album might stand out next to its predecessors.

Olivia also hinted at the name of the first single from her new album in a very creative way. She posted videos of herself leaving a pink, heart shaped lock in Los Angeles, Paris, London and Hoboken, New Jersey.

These locks revealed the title of the first single from you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, called ‘drop dead’, as well as the release date, April 17th. 

Later, she posted a photo on Instagram of her blowing a bubble with bubblegum, wearing a top with the words ‘drop dead’ in pink writing.

Although there hasn’t been word yet of another tour, we can be sure it’s about to be an Olivia Rodrigo summer, and it looks like she’s ready to shake things up a bit. 

Speaking with Vogue recently, Olivia explained that she’s not afraid to address the scary parts of love in her music.

“I realised all my favourite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them…it was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place.”

She also spoke about the influence that living in London has had on her new music: “I’ve found a lot of inspiration from being in London. I’ve spent so much time here over the course of making this album. It has a lot of songs that are London vibes, about experiences that I’ve had here.”
