Chloe Grace Moretz Says She’s “Appalled” By The Body-Shaming Ad For Her New Movie
She's spoken out following criticism.
Chloe Grace Moretz received a tonne of backlash yesterday for her involvement in Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs, a Snow White parody that suggests that curvy women are ugly.
The 20-year-old has responded to the criticism on Twitter, insisting she had nothing to do with the marketing for the movie and that she’s just as angered by it as the rest of us.
She started by saying, “I have now fully reviewed the marketing for Red Shoes, I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team.
The actress continued, “Pls know I have let the producers of the film know. I lent my voice to a beautiful script that I hope you will all see in its entirety. The actual story is powerful for young women and resonated with me. I am sorry for the offence that was beyond my creative control.”

The issue was raised by plus-sized model, Tess Holliday, who noticed that the billboard for the animation film sent out a negative message about body image. She was one of the first people to question Chloe’s involvement in the project, saying, “How did this get approved by an entire marketing team? Why is it okay to tell young kids being fat = ugly? ? ? @ChloeGMoretz”.

What do you think of this body-shaming controversy? Is Chloe’s explanation and apology sufficient?
