Kesha Fans Are NOT Happy About Ed Sheeran’s Grammy Wins

Ed Sheeran took home two awards at last nights Grammy Awards for Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

In a female filled category for Best Pop Solo Performance, Ed beat artists such as Lady Gaga, Kesha, Kelly Clarkson and Pink to the win.

The singer was not present to accept his awards and social media was pretty torn over his successes.

Kesha lost out to Ed in both categories on the night which left some fans frustrated after what appeared to be a female empowering award season.

Kesha received her first ever Grammy nominations this year for her third studio album Rainbow which she released in August 2017. The singer made her big comeback after her hiatus from music while she fought a court case against producer Dr.Luke after claiming he sexually abused her.

Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment at Kesha missing out on last night’s wins, some suggesting that her efforts and meaning behind her single Praying were reason for her to take home the award for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Kesha also performed a powerful version of her emotional single Praying at the show, leading an all-star group of female vocalists including Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Andra Day and Julia Michaels.

The performance was introduced by Janelle Monáe who delivered a message in support of the topical Time’s Up Movement which has been storming Hollywood throughout award’s season. The singer/actress said “we come in peace, but we mean business. And to those who would dare try and silence us, we offer two words: Time’s Up,” Monáe pronounced.

“Because you see, it’s not just going on in Hollywood, it’s not just going on in Washington D.C., it’s going on in our industry as well. And just as we have the power to shape culture, we have the power to undo the culture that does not serve us well. So let’s work together, women and men, as a united music industry committed to creating more safe work environments, equal pay, and access for all women.”

Some audience members were spotted in tears during the performance.
