Two Popular YouTubers Had To Beg Their Fans Not To Crash Their Father’s Funeral
Poor guys.
Two hugely popular YouTubers had to beg their fans not to come to their dad’s funeral yesterday.
Ethan and Grayson Dolan (known as the Dolan Twins), who have almost 9m subscribers on YouTube, sadly lost their father Sean last week after a battle with cancer.
Support for the twins came from their fans and fellow YouTubers alike – however, after fans started using hashtags like #SeanDolanMeetUpParty and #seandolanfuneralparty, the 19-year-olds had to to ask people not to turn up at his funeral, and allow them and their family space to grieve.
“If you are a fan of Grayson and I we love you and appreciate you so much. The best way you could support us during this tough time is to NOT show up at our father’s wake or funeral,” tweeted Ethan.
We want this ceremony to be an opportunity for the people who had a close connection with my Dad to say goodbye and pay their respects. We appreciate all of our fans so so much. Please respect My father Sean, Ethan, my family, and me send your love through social media only!

Your kind posts about my Dad have been heartwarming. Thank you all. Again, please do not show up to his wake, funeral, or any of his services.

It seems some fans were seriously considering crashing the funeral, treating the event as some sort of ‘meet up’ and tweeting “We’re going to have so much fun.”
According to NBC, police and private security were present at the funeral home yesterday to ensure no die-hard fans managed to get in.
Most of the twins’ subscribers are happy to support them from a distance, and apologised to them on behalf of the errant fans:
i’m so sorry you even have to address this

Truly, it’s crazy they even had to ask. The twins are taking a break from YouTube for the moment – hopefully, they’ll be given the space and time they need to grieve.
