Mark your calendars, in less than 2 months Lena Dunham is returning to our screens with her new rom-com series Too Much. Co- created with her husband Luis Felber, and co-produced by the makers of Love Actually, the 10 episode series will come to Netflix on the 10th of July.

The main protagonists will be played by Hacks actress Megan Stalter and White Lotus actor Will Sharpe. They will be joined by the likes of Stephen Fry, Top Boy actress Adwoa Aboah, Saltburn actor Richard E. Grant and model and Gone Girl actress Emily Ratajkowski as well as many more!

“There were so many actors that I respect that I was like, ‘Even if the characters in one episode or four episodes, I want to give them something to grab onto,’” Dunham told Netflix.

Back in 2023, Dunham said that the show is “very close” to her heart.

She said: “Created with my husband Luis, cast with my favorite actors — the geniuses that are Meg and Will, along with a bevy of friends — and partnering again with Working Title, who are behind the romantic comedies that formed me”.

The series follows a heartbroken New Yorker called Jess, Stalter, who decides her only solution, following a breakup, is to move to London. There, she expects to live alone, until she meets indie musician Felix, portrayed by Sharpe.

Dunham said that rom coms were the genre that made her want to make work in TV: “I thought, is there a way for us to really layer in the baggage that people experience as they try to fall in love in their 30s? Because, unlike in your 20s, you have this trail of complexity behind you”.

She explained, “When you react to the person that you’re falling in love with, you’re not just reacting to them; you’re reacting to everybody and everything that’s come before them.”

We think this is going to be our series for the summer!
