We’re Using These €6 Penneys Eyeshadow Palettes Over Our Expensive Ones
We were sceptical of cheaper eyeshadows before... but these have proved us wrong.
Penneys have really kicked it up a notch with their beauty offerings over the past year – from their excellent skincare line with beauty guru Alex Steinherr to their support of Irish brands like SOSU by SJ and Carter Beauty.
But their own brand makeup is quietly getting better and better too. While we’ve loved the lip liners and individual lashes for a long time, their eyeshadows are threatening to unseat them as our favourite Penneys beauty products.
Take the recently-launched €6 palettes, for example, which come in three colourways: Nude Basics, Gold Rush, and Tropical Storm.
We’re always a bit sceptical of cheaper eyeshadows (we’ve been burned in the past), but these have proved us wrong.
The quality is fab for the price, the shades are soft and silky, and work for daytime as well as night. Our only quibble is that the palettes don’t have a mirror, but we’ll make do, won’t we?
STELLAR editor Vicki swears by the Nude Basics – she uses it every day, has hit pan on several shades in her own palette, and plans on repurchasing ASAP. Here are some swatches for your perusal:
The mattes are very nice, but the shimmers are fabulous. That bronzey-coppery shade on the bottom left? OMG.
The thing about Penneys eyeshadow palettes is that there are fecking LOADS of them. If you’re not into nudes, there’s the Tropical Storm one, which has pops of lilac, pink and red – or there are the teeny-tiny, €4 palettes inspired (we suspect) by the Huda Beauty Obsessions palettes. Oh, and they’re cruelty free, which is very nice indeed.
If you’re in the market for some new eyeshadow, you could do a lot worse than head to your local Penneys and stock up for €6. Thank us later.
