The Coach Accused Of Helping Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Olivia Jade Get Into USC Is Pleading Guilty
This isn't looking good for Lori and her husband.
Things are heating up in the US college admissions scandal.
A former assistant coach at the University of Southern California who is accused of helping to facilitate Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade’s admission into the college has decided to plead guilty.
PEOPLE have reported that Laura Janke was one of the 11 people who was previously indicted for their alleged role in the college admissions scandal. According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts, Janke is now cooperating with authorities.
If Janke is found guilty, she faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, three years of supervised release, a hefty fine, and restitution.
She is accused of helping William “Rick” Singer (the man behind the scheme) create “falsified profiles” for his wealthy clients’ children in order to get them into certain universities as recruits on their made-up athletic ability.
Janke allegedly created a crew profile for Olivia Jade that would make her appear to be a member of a crew coxswain for the L.A. Marina Club team.
According to court documents obtained by CNN, Singer is accused of requesting that the Loughlin and her husband send an ‘Action Picture’ of Olivia Jade to Janke, asking a few days later for a picture on the ‘erg’ — or rowing machine, which was then sent a few days later.
The documents then state that once Olivia Jade was accepted to USC as a crew recruit, despite the fact that she did not participate in crew, Loughlin and her husband allegedly paid $50,000 to USC’s senior associate athletic director Donna Heinel.
Despite the allegations, Loughlin and her husband have plead not guilty to the charges against them. However, with Janke’s latest guilty plea, we can assume things aren’t looking good for the rich couple.
