Dirty Dancing, Call Me By Your Name, Surviving R Kelly: The Best Of Netflix In September
Here's what's landing throughout the month of September.
It’s almost back to school time, this means colder days, shorter evenings, and best of all, more time to cosy up in front of the TV.
We’ll be depending on Netflix a lot in September as we ease ourselves into autumn.
Thankfully, there are a couple of great movies and some anticipated new series on the way.
Highlights include Dirty Dancing, which lands on the first of the month. The perfect time for some nostalgia and something familiar and easy that everyone loves.
American Horror Story is back with Apocalypse which will be available from September 13th.
Netflix original content is looking solid too, with Tall Girl landing on the 13th. It follows Jodi (Ava Michelle) who has always been the tallest girl in school. After slouching her way through life for 16 years and being made fun of by classmates, Jodi meets Stig, a seemingly perfect Swedish foreign exchange student who’s even taller than she is. Jodi’s new crush turns her world upside down and throws her into a surprising love triangle, but with the help of her two best friends and her beauty queen sister Harper, Jodi comes to realize that she’s far more than her insecurities about her appearance have led her to believe. Defo a good one for a hungover Sunday!
We’re also getting the hugely talked about Timothee Chalamet film Call Me By Your Name, landing on the 26th.
The Good Place fans will be delighted to learn that we’re getting season 4 (albeit week by week) from the 27th.
Hip-Hop Evolution is back for a third season, this time looking at Tupac, Biggie, Lil’ Kim and Jay-Z as they blaze a trail into the ’90s as insiders sling the straight-up truth on the culture’s most iconic rappers and rhymes. This is available from the 6th!
Ryan Murphy’s new show The Politician is also landing on the 27th, which you can read all about here.
Surviving R Kelly will also be coming to Netflix this month, though the date hasn’t been confirmed. The series details the musician’s controversies and features several women who share allegations of abuse by him. This follows the rumours of abuse, paedophilia, and predatory behaviour toward women that have followed R. Kelly. It also features interviews from high-profile stars who speak about the allegations.
So it’s safe to say there is a little bit of everything landing in September, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy and to help ease us back into autumn.
