Harvey Weinstein Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus
He was recently sentenced to 23 years in prison
Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus while in jail.
The 68-year-old was sentenced to 23 years in prison just last month after being convincted of rape and sexual assault.
The president of the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association has stated that Harvey is now under quarantine.
At the time of Harvey’s sentencing his attorney, Donna Rotunno said he is likely to die in prison when considering both his age and previous health problems, including a heart condition.
“I think with the number that has been handed down to him today, he won’t see the light of day [again] especially given his health,”
Harvey’s legal team has since said that they were not made aware of his positive testing immediately, and are now concerned for the ex-producers health.
“Given Mr. Weinstein’s state of health, we are of course concerned, if this is the case, and we are vigilantly monitoring the situation,”
Weinstein is now being held in upstate New York at Wende Correctional Facility where two other prisoners have reportedly tested positive for the virus also.
