Harvey Weinstein Has Been Found Guilty of Two Felony Sex Crimes

He now faces between 5 to 29 years in jail

Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of rape in the third degree and criminal sexual act in the first degree.

Harvey handed himself to a New York police station almost two years ago in May 2018, following multiple accusations of sexual assault and rape.

It has been reported that yesterday’s trial consisted of seven men and five women, who found him guilty of two charges – criminal sexual assault in the first degree and rape in the third degree.

Harvey was on trial for a total of five counts, three of which were acquitted. When Harvey’s convictions were read out in the courtroom, the judge announced that Weinstein would immediately be sent to jail where he will await his sentencing.

Having been found guilty on two accounts, he now faces a possible sentence of between 5 and 29 years, The New York Times has reported, which will be sentenced on the 11th of March. His lawyers plan to challenge his immediate detention.

Dozen’s of women have accused Weinstein of both sexual misconduct/assault and rape, these women include Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow.

The accusations went on to sark the #MeToo movement, with both high profile names and otherwise taking to social media to share their own experiences of sexual harassment and assault in the workplace and beyond.

Many women who spoke about their experiences with Weinstein took to social media to express their satisfaction with the trial’s outcome.
