Jamie Lynn Spears Confirms That A Zoey 101 Reboot Is Happening

Erm, well this is just the best news ever!

“Ooh I know you see me standing here, do I look good my dear? Do I look good today?” When those lyrics hit you knew it was time. It was time for ciúnas in the sitting room because Zoey 101 was about to start on Nickelodeon.

Yes, anyone who grew up watching Jamie Lynn Spears navigate her tweenage years as Zoey, from wearing her locker key around her neck to driving a Jet X will confirm that she was absolute goals and now, it looks like the show is coming back.

Yes, 12 years after the show wrapped up on Nickelodeon following a four season run, Jamie Lynn Spears is in talks to bring the hit show back in some capacity and we’re absolutely game.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the younger sister to Britney Spears confirmed the news, explaining that its all in the “early stages” she said that yes, a reboot IS happening.

“Everything and anything is on the table, whether that’s a movie or a series. In all of the discussions I’ve had with Nickelodeon – which are in baby stages, by the way – the main thing is figuring out the right home for the reboot,” the star explained.

Explaining that its all about sorting out logistics for now, Jamie Lynn noted that the show couldn’t go back on Nickelodeon as the fanbase is much older (as are the stars) and so, it needs to find a new home to do it justice.

“We couldn’t do it justice by putting it back on Nickelodeon, because our fanbase has grown into young adults like me, 29 or around the same age.

“We want to tell stories about where the characters are now.

“We want to connect with the fans and touch on topics that are impacting millennials, so it would have to be aged up and be more mature,” she added.

These are issues that similar to Jamie Lynn, were echoed by fellow child star Hilary Duff, who halted production on a Lizzie McGuire reboot because Disney wanted to make it rated PG.

Back in February, she wrote: “Was incredibly excited to launch Lizzie on D+ and my passion remains!

“However, I feel a huge responsibility to honour the fans’ relationship with LIZZIE who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her.”

Continuing, she added:

“I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-olds journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating.

Asking Disney if the show could be taken over by the likes of Hulu seems like something we couldn’t imagine getting the green light however, one thing’s for sure, we need a Lizzie McGuire reboot just as much as we need a Zoey 101 one.

Could 2021 be our year for nostalgia? Well, with Legally Blonde 3 in the works too, it’s looking likely!
