Ah, Love Island. How we miss it. The last summer season of Love Island had to be up there with the best. We had plenty of love triangles, we were introduced to the kween Maura Higgins, and Molly-Mae and Tommy’s cutesy relationship. But recently, Amber Gill, who went on to win the season with Greg O’Shea, has opened up about how her Love Island experience could have been so different, and it would have made such a change to the whole season.
During an appearance on The Reality of Reality TV, Amber explained that the producers initially wanted her to be a bombshell, something that she really didn’t want.
“When I got called in the UK, they were, like, oh, we want you to be a bombshell…” she revealed. “I was, like, no, I don’t want to do that. They were, like, no, no, it’s great, being a bombshell’s great. You’ll have such an impact on the show.

“Me personally, I’m not the type to steal someone’s man or be really confident and going in and be, like, I like him, like that’s just not me. But my Auntie was like, ‘look, this opportunity isn’t going to come around often. Just go’.”
Amber continued, “I went and then halfway through the lockdown in Spain, the execs all come in unannounced to my villa and are, like, right, we’re going to change your contract around a little bit… we want you to go in as an original.
“Looking back now, I would have been the worst bombshell in history because I would have walked in and be like, ‘no, I don’t like any of these guys’.”
Imaging Amber as anything other than an OG just doesn’t sit quite right with us, as your mam would say, what’s for you won’t pass you!
