The Country Needs A Moment To Process Wild Mountain Thyme
The rendition of Blooming Heather was just the cherry on top of it all.
The idea of Emily Blunt, Jamie Dornan, John Hamm and Christopher Walken teaming up for a rom-com on paper sounds very promising. But an Irish rom-com, from the get-go there’s a sense of fear.
Will we get another P.S I Love You style movie? Scenes of a damsel in distress trying to navigate herself through fields? Or an accent that could challenge Tom Cruise in Far and Away?
Well, the trailer has dropped and it’s safe to say it ticks every box it could possibly tick in terms of a diddley-eye style look at Ireland, that’s apparently set in the early noughties. All the flick is missing is a leprechaun, if I’m honest.
In terms of Irish accents, Wild Mountain Thyme knocks all that came before it out of the water, even Dublin Airport’s official Twitter account chimed in saying that if accent police exist, they need to be on speed dial for this one.
Just listen to how Jamie Dornan says Rosemary. It needs its own 10 hour loop. It’s truly an Irish accent like no other, and Twitter users just can’t fathom where Jamie pulled the accent out of.
Plus, let’s not forget, Emily Blunt singing “will ye go, Lassie, go”, there are so many “I imagine Ireland to be like this…” elements to this movie that the trailer demands your viewing, if you haven’t seen it yet.
Firstly, take a look at some of the Twitter reaction…
I am only managing about ten seconds of the Wild Mountain Thyme trailer per attempt and my thoughts and prayers are with all actual Irish people at this difficult time 🙏

When is this set? She talks like it’s 1940s but then says she’ll freeze her eggs.

Wild Mountain Thyme hits US cinemas December 11, and is the new film from Oscar-winning writer John Patrick Shanley. Bringing the adaptation of his play Outside Mullingar to the big screens, it’s one we’re certainly intrigued to watch.
