As if we weren’t already head over heels in love with Mr Simon Basset – Bridgerton’s sexy Duke, it turns out (to no surprise), Regé-Jean Page is quite the catch too.

From being a hopeless romantic, to incredibly talented, the 30-year-old actor is a force to be reckoned with and certainly one of the rising stars of 2021.

Want to know some more facts about the star? Here are some interesting findings…

1. He can also sing!

Will we see Mr Simon put his vocal cords to use in the next season of Bridgerton? Here’s hoping because Regé-Jean and his brother form a musical duo called TUNYA.

The brothers have written songs together, sing together and have their own website where you can check out more of their serious skills, plus a clip from Regé-Jean in the movie Don’t Wait.

2. He starred in a Harry Potter movie

Now, don’t panic if you can’t remember his part (it was pretty minor), but Page did star in the Deathly Hallows in 2011 as a background actor.

See the still above of him standing next to Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) during the movie.

3. He’s passionate about showcasing Black joy on screen

While speaking to InStyle, Regé-Jean explained that he’s passionate to get behind projects that showcase Black joy in historical context. Adding that it’s something that’s not common enough, Regé-Jean said:

“What happens in culture often is, you go back in time and only white folks are happy. And you know what? We’ve all known how to smile since the beginning of time. We’ve all gotten married since the beginning of time. We’ve all had romance, glamour, and splendor. Representing that is incredibly important because period drama for people who aren’t white shouldn’t mean only spotlighting trauma,” he added.

4. He’s a pure romantic

Ugh, of course he is. Regé-Jean is a softie and he’s not afraid to admit it. While speaking to EW, he made his feels abundantly clear by saying: “Romance is a wonderful thing and we need more of it in the world. Most things at their core are love stories anyway, whether they realise it or not.”

Sure, we’re only weak.

5. He keeps his love life really private

You won’t be finding loved up pics or any indications to romance on Regé-Jean’s feeds. The 31-year-old likes to keep his relo life very private, so private that it’s unknown publicly whether he’s single or not. Hmmm.

6. He moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting

Regé-Jean lives for a good cup of coffee, and during Netflix’s Queue & A, he added that he can’t work without it. “I’m a being of caffeine when I work. It is a vice, but as far as vices go, I’ll take it.”

Sometimes two actors just click together, and Simon and Daphne certainly do in Bridgerton. Their on-screen spark is undeniable, but Page admits that it didn’t happen instantaneously. Admitting that it took “hours and hours of dance”, he confessed to Oprah Mag:

“I think when you spend that much time literally catching each other as you fall and flying through a room in each other’s arms, it’s a very, very efficient way to build an intimacy between performers,” Page says.

10. How to pronounce his name correctly

PSA.

There you have it.
