Apparently, We’ve All Been Drinking Pornstar Martinis The Wrong Way

As we all know, ’tis the season for pornstar martinis.

Not one weekend flick through Instagram Stories is complete without seeing this delicious cocktail pop up over a hundred times in various forms. Why? Because it’s fruity, it’s photogenic, it’s the taste of summer and it’s always a safe bet when you don’t like spending your well earned euros on a risk.

But recently, the risk-free cocktail has become the subject of debate over how it’s meant to be drank. Something which we never batted an eyelid at before, until one TikTok user @ffionbuttigieg8 shared a “fun fact” that most of us have apparently, been drinking the cocktail wrong.

For those who don’t know a pornstar martini, it’s a refreshing passion fruit cocktail with a vodka or vanilla vodka base that comes with a shot of prosecco or champagne on the side.

Now, for the most part, when people are served a pornstar martini (myself included) they just toss the shot of prosecco into the cocktail and fire away by drinking it that way, right?

Well, maybe wrong.

Because according to one TikTok user, a pornstar martini is meant to be sipped between the shot of prosecco instead of all together and it’s causing a lot of debate.

Fighting her on her point, another user claims that the cocktail is meant to be drank BEFORE the shot of prosecco, with the prosecco acting as a palette cleanser after the very sweet drink, preparing you for your next, while others are debating that point too.

“You pour the prosecco onto the passion fruit to release the flavour of the fruit,” wrote another user.

While another account added: “Nooo again! You always shot it BEFORE you drink the cocktail to act as a palette cleanser…”

While others seemed perplexed by the various ways of drinking a pornstar martini and surprisingly all the right and wrong ways to do it, we decided to investigate the matter a little bit more and well, according to the creator of the cocktail, Douglas Ankrah, it’s reported that he advises you to scoop out and eat the passion fruit garnish, drink the prosecco, then sip the cocktail at your leisure.
