5 Beauty Products Out There Saving Faces This January

The little heros of the bleakest month.

We all know how miserable January is. It feels as if it’s never ending, the days are grim and our bank accounts are basically crying out for help. On top of that, our skin can be in havoc after the Christmas neglect. So what better time than to give your skin and your makeup routine a little love?

Kiehls Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate

This facial oil is ideal for post-Christmas skin. Ideal for all skin types, but particularly blemish-prone, it reduces redness, balances hydration, and relieves skin discomfort. I first came across this product when my skin randomly suffered through its angriest break out ever. It basically saved my life, and I’ll be forever grateful. Pat two to three drops on freshly cleansed skin, and let that sink in before applying your moisturiser. Really, I think it’s best as a night time product, unless your skin has a habit of soaking up product pretty quickly. Just be careful to keep your bottle upright though as the lid has an awful habit of twisting itself open.

Dermalogica Phyto-Nature Firming Serum

Okay so this baby is pretty pricey, so it’s probably not going to fit into your January budget. But, if you can get your hands on it, you won’t be disappointed. Coming out as Dermalogica’s “most advanced” serum, it does pretty much everything. From reducing the appearance of premature skin aging to firming skin by reinforcing skin defenses. With hyaluronic acid and Sapphire-bound biomimetic peptides (fancy), it’s like a little bottle of magic.

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

An oldie, but a goodie. If you haven’t tried Flawless Filter just yet, make it your 2020 resolution because it’s simply life changing. Wear it alone on those no makeup days when you still fancy a bit of a glow, or under your makeup as a radiant primer. Even mixed in with your foundation to make it a little dewy, or on top of your foundation as a highlight. You’ll get a lot of bang for your buck with this one.

Skingredients Skin Shield SPF 50

Another skincare product, but January is all about skincare really, so here we are. I’m about to make a bold statement, but I think this could possibly be the best daily moisturiser I’ve ever used. Basically, it can be used as a moisturising primer but with a whole lot of goodness packed in. Including UVA, UVB, blue light, antioxidant and infrared protection as well as an SPF of 50 but with zero flashback. It’s flawless.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream

I’ve always been weary of CC and BB creams, because I wanted foundation and surely these creams wouldn’t give me the satisfaction of my good aul’ Mac Studio Fix. Enter, IT Cosmetics CC cream. This is something to obsess over, and rightly so. Another oldie, but it’s been my go-to on these Les Mis mornings. Developed along with plastic surgeons, the colour correcting cream has an SPF 50, increases hydration and smoothes texture, and is packed with an anti-aging serum, collagen, peptides, vitamins and antioxidants. Ah-maz-ing.
