I’m one of those people who are still waiting to get their hair done, I know, poor me. But, the glorious moment will be happening this weekend and I’m not even trying to be dramatic when I tell you I am living for it.

I’ve tried my best to take care of my hair in the past however long during lockdown, but at this stage, it just needs a snip. So I’ve vowed to myself that when the dead weight has been chopped, I’ll be giving it all the TLC it needs with weekly treatments, styling it when needs be and not going in for the kill with heated tools.

But saying all that, I also want to be able to style it and make it look, well, nice. So from must-have products and treatments to the styling tools that won’t torture your hair, here are some of the top-rated products to try.

Olaplex No. 8

Olaplex fans are all over this latest release already, but if you haven’t heard, Olaplex have launched a new member of their ever so popular family, Olaplex No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask. This highly concentrated 4-in-1 reparative mask adds shine and body while providing intense moisture to treat damaged hair. Basically, a hero in a bottle.

Simply apply it to damp hair, working your way from the mid-length to the ends, leaving in for at least ten minutes before rinsing and styling as usual. Voila! Gorge, healthy hair. Check it out here.

Dyson Corrale

Now, I know this is a spendy option but I’ve been trialling out the latest Corrale over the past few weeks and let me tell you, it’s divine. The Corrale has flexing plates that gather your hair, which means you get the same style with less heat and less damage too. It works like a dream, I have thick hair that tends to not do what I want it to, and I flew through straightening my hair with the Corrale. After a whizz through with this, my hair is straight, soft and tamed, with fewer flyaways than ever before.

Suitable for all hair types, this styling tool is probably smarter than I am, with Dyson’s Intelligent Heat Control for precise temperatures. The only downfall is that the battery life isn’t the best, as it’s cordless (another win) but honestly, this isn’t really a big deal as you’ll easily get all of your hair done before the battery runs low. Check out everything you need to know right here.

Joico Ironclad 01 Thermal Protectant Spray

Once we’re back into the real world officially, it’s likely that we’ll be spending more time styling our hair with heated tools, rather than throwing it on top of our heads and hoping for the best. So, this is where the Ironclad Thermal Protectant Spray from Joico comes in. Rather than the normal heat protection that you apply when your hair is damp, this is used on dry hair to protect your locks from any heat damage.

So before you go in with your straightener or curler, spray this on your hair in sections. As well as protecting your hair, it also rids your hair of frizz and static for up to 72 hours. A beauty of a hair product, worthy of multiple chef’s kisses. Check it out here.

Remington Pro Luxe Heated Rollers H9100

I always thought there was something so glam about getting ready to go out, putting my full face of makeup on with heated rollers in my hair, ideally with Saturday Night by Whigfield playing in the background. My little dream came through when I got my hands on the Remington Pro Luze Heated Rollers. With their heat technology, they lock in big, beautiful, bouncy curls that stay all day, and all with minimal effort.

The rollers are easy to use, they’re not difficult to put in and they only take five minutes to achieve the dreamy curls. With two different size rollers, you can switch things up for larger or smaller curls, depending on what you want. At first, I was a bit sceptical, thinking it’d be uncomfortable and not as glam as I was thinking, but they’re absolute gems and so worth a try. Buy them here.

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray

Want to style your hair with zero heat involved? Look no further than the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray. I’ve been using this almost constantly for the past year or so and it’s the handiest thing to go for when you don’t want to actually style your hair. After the shower, once my hair is just a little damp I spray this through it and pop in two little plaits.

Voila, the next day it’s wavy – but not sticky or crunchy in the way that some surf sprays can. You can also use it to reawaken curls and waves that are a couple of days old and give a little boost to your hair. Shop it here.
