Every season is wedding season

Although many of our favourite trends are looking like they are staying put for another bridal season, the world of bridal fashion is subjected to some exciting transformations. With Sofia Richie being the ‘It’ bride of the moment, her old money, timeless style has influenced designers to reimagine classic looks and put a modern twist to them.

Here are some of our top trends set to dominate this bridal season.

Bows

With the influence of Ballet core on our wardrobes, bows have made their way back into bridal fashion. Adding a bow to your wedding look is a way to be playful yet still be elegant and timeless.

Whether they are a focal point of your dress or just an accessory, like Made in Chelsea star Sophie Habboo did with a bow veil for her registry office wedding, the use of bows in wedding attire is a trend set to dominate this wedding season.

Detachable Dramatic Sleeves and Capes

2023 was the year of minimalism for bridal trends, but could 2024 be the opposite? Dramatic sleeves and capes were a consistent style seen at Bridal Fashion Week last October, where designers showcased their 2024 collection.

As it’s becoming more and more popular for brides to have two dresses for their wedding day, designers have made it possible to have two looks in one.

Detachable pieces give you the opportunity to transform your look in a practical and stylish way. Popular in the 70s, dramatic sleeves and capes have been redefined for the modern bride.

Floral Appliqués

Floral Appliqués will be seen everywhere this wedding season. In the realm of weddings, flowers are a symbol of love and celebration, so why not wear them? With 3D florals used to create a unique and delicate look this bridal trend is one to stick around.

Incorporating floral appliqués into your wedding attire, creating a romantic and whimsical look perfect for any wedding location is a sure way to be the centre of attention on your big day.

Drop Waist Gown

Drop waist wedding dresses are flattering by lengthening the torso and accentuating the hips giving you an hourglass shape. First seen in the 1920s, this style of dress is vintage and elegant.

With the rise in popularity of low-rise clothing and corsets it is no surprise that drop waist gowns are back in style.

Influencer Greta Louise Tomé has modelled many drop waist gowns for her social media and opted for one for her own wedding day. She created an effortlessly chic and modern look by adding detachable sleeves, keeping on trend.

Bridal Chokers

As seen on former Love Island contestant Olivia Attwood, bridal chokers are becoming increasingly popular. Although they may not be for everyone, when done right they can blend tradition with contemporary aesthetics seamlessly, perfect for the modern bride.

Olivia accessorised her off-the-shoulder lace gown perfectly with a lace choker, which completed the look with her hair styled up.

Mini Dress for the Reception

While the ceremony gown is the star of the show, many brides are opting for a mini dress to change into for their wedding reception.

This allows for fun and comfort on the dance floor and to show off those bridal heels that have been hidden by your gown all day.

Socialite Sofia Richie, whose wedding was considered the royal wedding of 2024, started this trend by wearing a custom-made Chanel dress inspired by one modelled by Claudia Schiffer and designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1993.

Brides to be in 2024 have a diverse choice of wedding looks, ensuring that their wedding attire is classic and timeless and reflects both their personal style and the upcoming trends of the wedding season.
