Anne Hathaway is set to star in a brand new movie and it revolves around the fashion world!

She is taking on the lead role in the musical Mother Mary directed by David Lowery.

The Devil Wears Prada alum will take on the role alongside Emmy winner Michaela Coel in the musical that is described as “a pop melodrama that follows a fictional musician, played by Anne Hathaway, and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer, played by Michaela Coel”.

Lowery has directed a few highly respected projects including The Green Knight and Disney+’s Peter Pan and Wendy.

Anne will once again take on the fashion world having starred in the 2006 iconic film The Devil Wears Prada and the 2018 movie Ocean’s 8 who she starred alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter, this time in the role of a popstar and her relationship with an iconic designer.

As it’s a musical, we know the songs are going to have to be enormous tunes so it’s only right they brought on music royalty to pen some songs for the movie soundtrack. Jack Antonoff and Charlie XCX will be writing and producing for the movie, a duo that have collaborated with massive names like Taylor Swift, Lorde and Lana Del Ray.

Unfortunately we have no release date for the film just yet, but not to worry we can just rewatch the cast’s repertoire of movies to satisfy our need for this brand new movie.

Anne has said she’s using this time both on and off the screen to truly explore fashion and not be afraid, as her younger self would have been.

She told Vogue in September: “When I was a younger actress, a lot of the things I did were based in fear, wanting to do something right, and now I don’t mind doing things wrong, I don’t think I’ll fall apart, and the stakes don’t feel so high. So I’m dressing with a lot more gratitude and a lot more joy”.
