Jenna Ortega has taken the spotlight after her role in Netflix’s Wednesday. In a recent interview with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Ortega spoke about her transition to playing Wednesday Addams. When she received the script, she had many questions to be answered.

“When I first signed onto the show, I didn’t have all the scripts. I thought it was going to be a lot darker. It wasn’t,” she said.

Jenna went on to say that this made her change some of her characters lines, admitting she would even change her lines without warning.

“There was a line about a dress she has to wear for a school dance, and she says, ‘Oh, my God, I love it. Ugh, I can’t believe I said that. I literally hate myself.’ I had to go, ‘No.’” she explained.

“There were times on that set where I even became almost unprofessional in a sense where I just started changing lines,” she added.

Jenna was also given creative control in some other areas on set, specifically in the iconic dance scene, where she choreographed the viral routine herself.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Ortega admitted she had only two days to come up with the dance saying she didn’t sleep while creating it.

Wednesday has since been renewed for season two and Jenna has been announced as an executive producer on the second season, we guess her decisions are paying off!
