Joey Essex Addresses Dancing on Ice Romance Rumours

Dancing on Ice contestant Joey Essex has addressed the rumours of a budding romance with skating partner Vanessa Bauer.

After debuting their week one performance following weeks of intense training, fans of the show were speculating romance rumours. After all, they have been spending 20 hours a week together over the space of three months, so it’s no wonder sparks are flying.

After speaking with Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain Joey said: “The truth is obviously I’m single, Vanessa’s single. We go to the ice every day and it’s cold. You know what I mean? You’ve got to keep each other warm. So that’s it really”.

Susanna was skeptical in her reply saying it didn’t sound like either of them were single at all, to which the 32-year-old replied: “No comment, I can’t confirm. But, no, we are both single right now. We’re taking it slow. It’s all good”.

Following their closing number for musicals week – the pair were dressed as Dany Zuko and Sandy from Grease performing the song Greased Lightning, the Dancing on Ice hosts took note of the incredible chemistry between them both with Holly Willoughby asking: “You are like a real-life Sandy and Danny out there, have you got something to tell us you two?”

Joey smirked back before replying ” Danny and Sandy are getting on pretty well” before throwing an exaggerated wink at the camera and adding: ” if you know what I mean”. He’s keeping the romance under lock and key though after declining to confirm Philip Schofield’s direct question: “Are you confirming this?”

Whatever they’re doing they have caught the judges’ attention and won’t be losing it any time soon.

Joey and Vanessa, have skated fiercely in the first three weeks of competition finishing week one with 27 points out of 40 and week three with 29 points out of 40. Will they bring home the trophy and finally confirm their romance, only time will tell.
