Reese Witherspoon Thought Ashton Kutcher Was ‘Quirky’ The First Time She Met Him

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher are rom-com veterans at this stage, and you’d think they have shared the screen together before now, but did you know the pair actually didn’t know each other before filming their new Netflix film, Your Place Or Mine?

Chatting together at a press conference this week, the pair were asked how they created chemistry between their characters since they aren’t in the same room for most of the film.

Reese responded, “Well, we decided probably a month before we started shooting. I had sort of a little panic attack because we didn’t know each other.”

Although the actress recalled they had met once, “We fully had met one time at a party, and it was weird… And he was weird.”

Ashton added, “And I was sharing a cooler, and she thought that I was quirky.”

“I said, “quirky,” but I really thought weird,” Reese joked.

“Anyway [laugh] I’m kidding. I’m kidding. We were quirky. And then, so about a month before, I was like, ‘I don’t know this guy, and we’re supposed to be best friends for 20 years.’ So we started sending each other videos every day, ” she explained.

The duo revealed they would talk about everything from their fears to how their day went and their preferred pancake toppings.

Ashton said, “I met your dad [via video call]. We hung out on your porch quite a bit… And then, by the time we started shooting it, we were sort of used to communicating this way. And so it felt really natural to communicate that way.”

Well, the pair certainly did a great job of becoming besties in a month. Their new film follows best friends of 20 years Debbie and Peter, who are total opposites. They swap houses and lives for a week and realise they may not know everything about each other like they thought…
