The New Wicked Movie Is Coming Sooner Than We Thought

Get your broomsticks ready as we take off for the Emerald City. We’ve been waiting for the brand new Wicked film for what seems like forever, but good news everyone it appears our wait is narrowing by the day.

Wicked Part 1 is now slated to appear in cinemas from November 27 2024. Yes we know it seems like forever, BUT if we’ve waited this long, we can wait another few months – we’re glass half full gals over here at STELLAR.

The first instalment of the movie was originally supposed to arrive in cinemas on December 25 2024 but the studio decided to treat us to the highly anticipated movie a month earlier than expected.

Wicked follows the turn of events prior to the Wizard of Oz and how the Wicked Witch of the West comes to fruition.

The movie is being directed by Jon M.Chu and will star Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, who later becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.

Johnathan Bailey will portray Fiyero and Jeff Goldblum will play the Wizard, while Michelle Yeoh will take on the role of Madame Morrible and Ethan Slater will characterise Boq.

Director Chu took to Twitter announcing the earlier release date saying: “WICKED NEWS: We are deep into production on WICKED and everyday we get more and more excited to share with u the mischief we’ve been up to. So…We’ve decided to get it to you all a little earlier than planned. OUR NEW RELEASE Date is NOV 27th 2024! A little Thanksgiving treat!”

The lyrical and musical composer from the original Broadway show, Stephen Schwartz, will return to adapt the screenplay with Winnie Haltzman and has revealed that he will be writing two completely new songs for the new movie.

The movie has been split into two parts and are scheduled to be released a year apart meaning it’ll most likely be 2025 before we see part two.
