Yesterday we got a double dose of Barbie goodness after the first look at the cast in character was released, we thought that was all we’d get for a while, but then the trailer for the film arrived and all we can say is, wow.

Although the trailer still doesn’t give too much away about the plot of the film, we get to know the dynamics of the world the Barbies live in. Barbie Land.

It seems like there are multiple Barbie’s and multiple Ken’s with the film’s focus on Margot Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken, although we see some competition between Ryan’s Ken and Simu Liu’s Ken.

Barbie is en route out of Barbie Land and Ken joins her, after making sure he brought his rollerskates, they head toward the ‘Real World’, but what are they up to? Potentially to meet with Mattel? We are so intrigued.

In the first look posters, we saw Nicola Coughlan, Dua Lipa and many more celebs sport their Barbie (and Ken) looks.

Nicola Coughlan is rocking bright red locks with a silver dress with pink tulle sleeves. Her makeup is Barbie-tastic with a bright pink lip and a dramatic winged liner.

“This Barbie is a diplomat,” the picture is captioned.

Of course, she was inundated with sweet messages from her pals including her Derry Girls co-star Dylan Llewellyn who wrote: “So buzzing!”

Laura Whitmore commented: “yes girl!!! X”.

“omfg,” Nell Mescal added with Jodie Comer writing: “Omgggggg”.

Nicola previously told the Evening Standard: “I am so excited for Barbie. I could only do the tiniest bit. I’m in it for 20 seconds, if even that. When Greta asked if I wanted to do it, I was like, ‘if she wants me to clean the floors in the studio I’ll do it’.”

“I think that movie is going to be one of the best movies ever made. I’m not just saying it, it’s so brilliantly clever, so camp, insane and it’s got so much heart,” she explained.

“Greta is a genius so to be in it for two seconds, I couldn’t be more excited.”

The film will be Dua Lipa’s acting debut as she plays a mermaid Barbie and looks stunning with blue hair and a blue tail.

Barbie will be in cinemas on July 21st.
