Celeb Style Steal: Five Stars Rocking The Mellow Yellow Trend Right Now

rail of clothes

Hello, welcome back to Celeb Style Steal, where we snoop on our favourite stars social media pages to see what they’re wearing, and if we can get our hands on it.

This time, we’re checking out fashionistas rocking mellow yellow. We know, we know! Yellow for summer is about as groundbreaking as florals for spring, and yet so many of us avoid the colour because we think it’s hard to pull off. But it’s important to remember that regardless of hair colour, skin tone or style, yellow belongs in your wardrobe.  From subtle light yellow to bright canary and muted mustards, here are our top pics.

Louise Cooney’s Simple Silky Skirt

The satin midi is massively on trend right now and a skirt is a little easier to pull off than a full dress. Pair it with a white tee and converse for a weekend away or with a cami or crop top and strappy heels for a night out. This one looks expensive and is the perfect length to wear it high-waisted and it features a hidden zip at the site which means you can slip it on easily, get it in Zara for €40!

Christine Lampard’s Rainbow Wrap

If you’re looking to slowly introduce yellow into your wardrobe, take a leaf out of Christine Lampard’s book and go for a hint of the colour in a dress. This striped number from Mango is bang on trend with stripes, subtle rainbow and it’s a wrap dress! Get it online for €60.

Mollie King’s Sunny Silk Slip

The slip dress is everywhere right now, and a yellow slip dress is perfectly for the sunny season. We’re all about versatility and cost-per-wear so while Mollie’s Sun Silk dress from Asceno is far from cheap, it’s very wearable. Wear it just like Mollie is above to a wedding, a big party or a formal occasion, or pair it with a t-shirt underneath like various bloggers have for a cool-girl daytime look. You can also wear it to achieve a look like Louise Cooney’s above by pairing it with a shirt, a jumper or a t-shirt over it, to make it look like a skirt.

If the price tag is a little much for you, don’t fret, we get it. You can get plenty of similar ones on the high street and online, like this one from New Look for just €35. The slip dress can be scary for those wary of the tummy area, but this one has a really flattering diagonal cut, which means it skims over your hips and shows off your curves without clinging.

Rosie Connolly’s Fun Frilly Blouse

Yellow doesn’t have to overpower your look, or wash you out. Rosie’s fun frills are a perfect example of how to play around with the colour to suit you. This top gives us floaty Zimmerman vibes, but for a fraction of the price. You’d get away with it long after summer ended too, which is always a good thing.  Get it from Topshop.

Louise O’Reilly’s Stripped Playsuit

A more muted yellow, but an equally cute look on Louise O’Reilly. This playsuit is perfect for a city break or sunny Saturday at home.  Playsuits can be a little tricky, they can sit awkwardly or cling in the wrong places but this button down, wide leg romper is far easier to pull off than many other styles. Get it for just €16 in Penneys!
