EXCLUSIVE: Suzanne Jackson Reveals Her Absolute Favourite Piece From Her New Clothing Range
Get it before it sells out, ladies.
“I decided that’s it, I’m going to hop on a plane and go out to these factories myself and meet with people and actually tell them exactly how I want the fits to be.”
Suzanne Jackson knows what she likes. It’s that decisiveness that has made her new clothing range, SOSU by Suzanne Jackson, an instant success. It’s also what drove her to rise up out of the overcrowded Irish beauty blogger scene to become the head of her own mini-empire.
After already successfully launching a nail polish range and a contouring kit with sell-out numbers, the Dubliner confirmed last month that she was moving into the world of fashion. Her debut collection, which was revealed last week, isn’t small either; it’s made up of 35 pieces including dress, three denim styles, bodysuits and one very familiar red blazer. The bright red military-style jacket, which Suzanne wears on the cover of the current issue of STELLAR, was what first sparked rumours that a SOSU clothing range might be in the offing.
“I wore the red blazer out in August to my dad’s birthday,” she tells us during our cover shoot interview. “I Snapchatted on the way into the restaurant and you could really see the red. For a good two, three weeks after that, I was inundated with emails, questions, even people coming onto my Instagram saying, ‘Where’s your red blazer from?’ And I couldn’t reply. That was very much during sampling stages and I just didn’t even know if it was going to be here this year, so I couldn’t say a word.”
The blazer is available now on Suzanne’s site for €45, but it’s not her favourite piece in the collection: that would be the black leather bomber emblazoned with studs and floral embroidery (€105). “It’s one of the most expensive pieces, but when you see it, you’ll know why,” she says. “It’s my hero piece, I think it just screams designer.”
As Suzanne’s STELLAR cover hits shelves, she’s in the Maldives enjoying what she says is a long-awaited trip away with her fiancé, Dylan O’Connor.
“I’ve been stressed out of my mind the past few months. I’ve even been quiet on social media because this has been the focus,” she admits.
With a wedding to plan and next year’s SOSU lines to design, will Suzanne’s blog be forgotten? No, she assures us.
“Although I am moving into becoming a businesswoman, I still definitely cast myself as a blogger and someone my readers can relate to and talk to and communicate with. That’s really key – knowing what your followers want.”
