Flawless! The €6.80 Product That Will Give You Airbrushed Skin Without The Filters

Say seeya to skin-smoothing apps like Facetune with blemish-busting, brightening beauty picks inspired by social media. Uh-huh, honey.

The average woman takes 12 minutes to get #selfie ready, according to Dove, and with one estimation putting our current snap rate at 1 trillion per year, and 300 million of those ending up as pictures of our own faces, that’s a lot of getting trigger happy. So it’s hardly surprising that the rise of #selfie culture has fueled the rise of new beauty trends but also new products, formulas and innovations.

Industry group MPD says that this is all pushing up sales of premium beauty, with foundations, primers and highlighters coming in as the biggest winners, Thanks, Kim K. It also reports that because of the popularity of strobing, sales of highlighters ramped up by 48.5 percent in the UK in 2015.

And we want smoother, glowier, more multi-functional products too, that combine the latest technology with ease of application. Brands are stepping up to answer our call: Make Up For Ever reformulated its already high definition line of make-up for 4k technology, the next generation of digital display. Ultra HD Foundation, blush powder and primers are formulated with finely milled ingredients and light-diffusing technolgy for a second skin result.

Likewise, Estee Lauder’s New Dimensons franchise is all about instant results. Expert Liquid Tape uses plastic-alike polymers to ‘tape’ sagging skin into place – so you get a better shot. Elsewhere, brands are deep in R+D and filing patents for new, skin-smoothing and pore-blurring ingredients like Croda Labs’ Prolevis, which claims it can instantly smooth skin.

One thing’s for sure: beauty, and how we consume it has changed irrevocably thanks to social media. Here’s what to buy for your best ever shot.
