Here’s What You Need To Pack In Your Holiday Beauty Bag

The glowy summer staples that work poolside and, er, bar-side, according to make-up maestro, Sarah Keary.

Bag restrictions and liquid regulations mess with our make-up routine, majorly, and that’s before we even factor in the sweat and sand. When we’re away we don’t have the luxury of three different types of mascara and a foundation to suit every mood and skin woe.

So what’s a gal to do? Make-up artist Sarah Keary, who’s beautified practically every Irish celeb, tells STELLAR how to prepare and what to pack.

Should we do double duty with our beauty booty?

“The less you have to carry around in your tiny summer handbag the better. I love multi-tasking beauty buys like Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze & Glow and Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks. They work really well in the heat too.”

Our skin is sweaty and shiny in the sun. Help!

“Prep with primer, it’s worth the extra step. Primer fills in fine lines, helps make-up go on more smoothly and best of all keeps it in place. Apply a thin layer to your skin, lids and even lips.”

BB and CC creams are really handy to have on holidays as they provide coverage with added skin care benefits like SPF and antioxidants.

Lash tinting – yay or nay?

“Yay! A lash tint will instantly make your eyelashes appear longer and eyes look brighter. Then all you have to do is curl them with a good eyelash curler before you hit the pool.”

BBs and CCs – will we make room for one?

“BB and CC creams are really handy to have on holidays as they provide coverage with added skin care benefits like SPF and antioxidants. My favourite is Smashbox Camera Ready CC SPF30.”

The product you always keep in your beach tote?

“MAC Vegas Volt lipstick – a muted coral shade that looks incredible with tanned skin. It’s my perfect summer lippy.”

We’re getting a spray tan before we head off. Any tips?

“I rate the Vita Liberata spray tan at the Benefit Salon on South William Street, Dublin 2. They always do a really thorough job. Don’t forget to ask for a light layer of tan on your face to ensure an all over even colour. Prep skin properly before you spray and apply Cocoa Brown Chocolate Whip afterwards to make it last.”
