Okay So What Actually Is ‘Project Pan’?

Sustainable *and* eco-conscious

Project Pan is taking over the internet and let’s just say we are so excited about it. This challenge is not only all about being eco-friendly but it’s also economical and practical. Let’s dive into it.

Project pan is a challenge that has been circulating around the web for the last few years, however, it has taken TikTok by storm in recent months.

The premise of the project consists of someone using every single amount of a beauty product before moving on to the next, rather than having 5 or 6 body lotions lying around your house going unused and then expiring, you consistently use one of them to completion before opening or buying a new one.

The same goes for all your makeup products, perfumes, lip balms, cleaning products etc.

With the beauty industry only going from strength to strength and overconsumption in full swing, many of us have accumulated more products than we need for the next year or so, and due to the excessive and very convincing strategies of the industry we often seek the thrill of buying new products whether we need them or not.

For products like mascara, this is extremely impractical as once opened, the product is soon to dry out and expire.

@maddieborge Let’s go through what’s in my Project Pan for 2025! ✨ I’ll try to update you on my progress and empties monthly, so make sure to follow for more! ✨ #projectpan #projectpan2025 ♬ original sound – Maddie Borge

After the holidays you may have also received products, so you should keep unopened until you need them. It’s almost like shopping from your own supply of unopened goods!

We recommend sorting your products into different categories based on their purpose, e.g. blush, hairspray etc. Anything that you really don’t have an interest in using can be donated or given to someone who would get the use out of it.

Once sorted into piles, decide on a product or two you would like to keep using for now and store the others away. Now you have every product you need and loads of backups for when you are done! You don’t need to move on to another one or buy a new product in this category until all are used up.

@abbygrayceeex2 I actually am overconsumption like I’m convinced I am the OG over consumer so hopefully this will help me be more accountable this year🫶🏼 #sephora #projectpan #empty #empties #productsyouneed #consumerism #productreview #makeuptok #fyp ♬ original sound – abbygrayceee

If you want to keep track of your progress you can take pictures every few months.

Not only are you fighting overconsumption and being a more conscious consumer but you will also save money with the cut down on buying.
