One Major Coachella Trend Might Dominate Irish Festivals This Year

Put. The flower crown. Down.

When Coachella weekend rocks around each year, we can’t help but refresh our Instagram feed intently, waiting to see what outfits the influencer gods will grace us with this time around. It’s usually the festival that sees the most outrageous outfits – think James Charles’ assless chaps or Nikita Dragun’s double denim cowgirl ensemble. Without a doubt, you expect buckets of colour and at least a little glitter… or so we thought.

This year, it seems as though there was a memo circulating among Coachella’s hottest celebs to change it up, as most of them opted for pared back, casual and effortless looks, with a very clear ‘I just decided to come last minute’ vibe.

Hailey Bieber and Jenner sisters Kylie and Kendall, who have all eyes on them each year at the event, wore simple trousers and crop tops to various shows, alternating each day between graphic and plain tees, white pants and faded jeans. This came as a surprise to fashion bloggers and fans who were expecting the usual extravagant and OTT outfit choices, and it left us wondering if festival fashion is about to get way more mellow. The iconic trio of girls kept their makeup lowkey too, with glossy lips and light eyeshadow, playing up to an overall very natural and easygoing look.

Other super celebs followed suit, like Emma Chamberlain, who is known for sharing the thought and effort she puts into her outfits each year on her Youtube channel. The vlogger chose some edgy and vibrant looks on day one and two, with tousled hair and platform cowboy boots, but went totally relaxed on day three, in grey trackie bottoms and white runners.

Included in the laid back party was Vanessa Hudgens, who’s usually known for her classic festival outfits kitted out with super hippie dippy accessories, but who kept it easy breezy in a crochet dress over a black swimsuit and matching black platform boots. Singer Halsey followed the understated vibe too, wearing low waisted denim jeans and a white crop tee.

So, if this year is anything to go by, it looks like neon and sparkles are out, and cool and casual is in. Will Electric Picnic this year be a sea of denim shorts and white tees, or will the rainbow unitards prevail? Only time will tell.
