There Is A Huge Flea Market Happening Next Weekend In Dublin
If your new years resolution was to be more sustainable then we have the perfect event for you next weekend.
Sustainable Fashion Dublin started their Flea Market late last year and it was a roaring success from the get-go.
The brainchild of Geraldine Carton and Taz Kelleher, SFD have been working tirelessly through 2019 on all different types of events around sustainability and fashion.
These include charity shop crawls (which we can vouch for, they’re fantastic), swap shops, documentary screenings as well as workshops teaching people how to up-cycle, sew and mend the clothes they already own.
Dublin really needed something like this, with so many of our markets now a thing of the past. It is something the city was sorely lacking and these two jumped to fill that gap, and have attracted thousands of people to it.
Next weekend they’ll be hosting another of their flea markets in The Workman’s Club and it will be sponsored by Roe & Co Whiskey. With a huge variety of vintage sellers, you’re sure to find something you like on the day.
For this market there will be a little something extra, they are hosting a VIP Closet Clear Out on the day.
Taz and Geraldine have got in touch with some of our favourite, and most fashion-forward Irish influencers and got them to donate some clothing. These pieces will then be sold on the day with 100% of the proceeds going to the Victoria Bushfire Appeal.
Amy Huberman, Tara Stewart, Brendan Courtney, Sonia Lennon, Davina Devine, Holly White, Leanne Woodfull and Andrea Horan are just a few of the influencers who have donated pieces. So if you’ve every coveted any of their wardrobes now is your chance to get your hands on a piece!
Sound like your cup of tea? Here’s some tips if you’re planning to go next weekend;
- Bring a bag – we usually bring a big tote with us as not all sellers will supply bags, also you get even more environmental kudos for bringing your own
- Be patient – this isn’t a ticketed event so expect there to be some queues!
- Be nice – everyone working at this is a volunteer
- Have an idea what you’re looking for so you don’t impulse buy too much, for example if you need a new blazer or pair of jeans keep this in mind!
The market is next on Saturday, 18th of January from 12-5.
