#WellWed: Aoibhinn McBride’s Bridal Beauty Diary
Wanna know what brides-to-be be doing in the run up to their weddings to make them picture perfect? We asked Aoibhinn McBride, style & beauty editor of Evoke.ie.
Aoibhinn McBride, 31, Style & Beauty Editor at Evoke.ie.
Marrying: John Kearns on 21st August.
Place: Mass at St Patrick’s Church, Kilquade, followed by a reception at Trudder Lodge, both in Co Wicklow.
Beauty look: Fresh and modern.
Red nails are Aoibhinn’s thing, so she’ll be sticking with her signature style on her wedding day. “I think you should look like you. I always wear red nail varnish and I’m going to do a red lip, too. I’m on the hunt for the perfect lip stain; so far I’m loving YSL’s Rouge Volupte, €31.”
The behind-the-scenes work is in full flow when it comes to skin. “I use a Clarisonic, €199, twice a week with a foaming cleanser – any more than that will irritate my skin,” Aoibhinn explains. “I really like the Image Iluma range, from €32, and Trilogy Rosehip Oil, €19.99 – it’s great for giving skin a fresh, dewy glow when mixed with moisturiser.”
Already she’s thinking past the bridal beauty concerns and on to the honeymoon.
I’ll get a three-week manicure so it’ll last, and I think I’ll probably do red on my toes too, but I’ll do that myself.
Her tresses won’t be getting the DIY treatment; this beauty buff has her hair programme locked down. “At the moment my hair’s pretty long and it’s kind of a sandy brown-blonde but I’m going to go a little bit lighter for the wedding. Mark Byrne at Zeba looks after it; I’ll go to him in June for colour and then maybe two weeks before the wedding. I might get it trimmed between appointments too, but I won’t get much off.”
At-home haircare is just as important to Aoibhinn: “I’d be quite cautious about using a GHD or other styling tools because I do think they fry your hair. I use good products, I love Kerastase, from €24, and I also really like Sebastian Potion No 9, €15.50.” With hair like that we’re betting her bridal and session stylist Carla Rose will have no bother getting the look right on the day.
Not forgetting brows, because, they too will be getting the star treatment. “Aisling Powell at Empower Studio does my brows every couple of weeks. I’d recommend taking the financial hit to get them in good shape; it’s totally worth it.”
