AD: Who am I this week?! 😉 I find it liberating experimenting with my hair. It makes me look at my wardrobe differently too. I've been matching the pink with clothes I haven't worn for years! So the colour is the @Schwarzkopf @livecolouruk Ultra Brights Shocking Pink and as you can see, I created a subtle, pastel pink. You can sort of tailor make it to how strong you want your pink by mixing it up with conditioner. #generationcolour, #livecolour #stayhome #staysafe #colourinspiration #lockdownhairdye #shockingpink”
It’s a trend we’ve seen plenty of celebs rock over the past few months, and the good news is – perfectly pink locks are a cinch to recreate at home! Just take it from Irish influencer Eimear Varian Barry, who recently embraced a light pink shade.
For Eimear’s candy floss hue, she got creative using Schwarzkopf Ultra Brights Shocking Pink, mixed with Schwarzkopf Color Expert Conditioner with Omegaplex to give her more control over the brightness and intensity of the shade.
And to prove just how easy the process is, we got Eimear to film the process step-by-step! Just remember, before you apply any colour to your hair, perform an allergy test 48 hours beforehand – and make sure to carefully read the instructions included in the pack!
As for making sure your colour stays fresh and vibrant for as long as possible? Eimear says her trick is not to over-wash her hair.
“I’ve always said, I only wash my hair twice a week. You just have to get over it, because the natural oils in your hair will condition your hair.”
One thing to keep in mind if you’re thinking of colouring at home is to pick the right shade. For pastel shades, your hair will need to be very light blonde, so pre-lighten if you’ve not been blessed with this colour.
Schwarzkopf Ultra Brights Shocking Pink is a semi-permanent colour, which means you can expect it to last around eight washes. Keep in mind that using less shampoo, and limiting exposure to the sun and swimming pools will ensure that the colour lasts that little bit longer. Schwarzkopf LIVE Colour Ambassador Lyndell Mansfield advises that using the right shampoo and conditioner can make all the difference.
“Keeping blondes fresh looking and vibrant can be as easy as using a silver shampoo like the Schwarzkopf LIVE Silver Shampoo alongside a shampoo and conditioner designed for coloured hair.”
The colour will fade naturally over the weeks, but you’ll experience the best version of the colour within the first two weeks.
So all that’s left to do is head out, pick up some colour and get going! For more tips and tricks, not to mention loads of hair colour inspo, follow @livecolourhair on Instagram.
