‘I’ll Wear It, But…’: Here’s Why Miley Cyrus Isn’t A Fan of Her New Engagement Ring
Poor Liam, eh?
Liam Hemsworth popped the question to Miley Cyrus all over again with a brand new ring in January of this year, but his fiancée has just one problem: the new sparkler just isn’t her style.
Miley appeared on The Ellen Show this week and had no problem chatting about Liam and her second-chance engagement, but she admitted she sometimes swaps out her ring for “a unicorn or a Looney Tune.” See, when most of your jewellery collection is make up of Day-Glo plastic, a gold and diamond ring just doesn’t quite fit in.
“This is really weird because this is like real jewellery and most of my jewellery is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy and they don’t look that good together because they kind of mix up, so sometimes I replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney tune,” the singer told Ellen of her new ring, a bauble-style diamond in a gold setting.
“And he [Liam]’s kind of like what’s going on? It’s like, well, this isn’t really my aesthetic, but I’ll wear it because you love me.”
A-HA! So This Is Why Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth Really Broke Off Their 2013 Engagement
Miley’s reluctance to wear her new ring is surprising considering the couple are said to have worked on the new design together, with Miley deciding on gold over platinum for very specific reasons. “She liked the gold because it was different and unique, like her. She didn’t want anything classic or generic,” the source told E! News.
Miley and Liam rekindled their romance late last year, three years after calling off their engagement for the first time. Although they’ve been taking things slowly, the pair do seem to be happier than ever. Speaking to GQ Australia back in May, Liam said he had no regrets about the past and had accepted his 2013 split from Miley as being “actually a good decision” at the time.
“We were both going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young… we both needed that,” he said.
