Solved! Here’s Why Beyoncé Always Takes Her Met Gala Pics Next To That Gross Wall
Never let it be said that Bey is upstaged by a wall.
Beyoncé proved once again last night that she was the Met Gala Queen with a stunning sartorial choice – a nude latex Givenchy gown.
The singer claimed to reporters on the red carpet that the skintight dress was an “easier” choice than last year’s sheer bejewelled number, which we find hard to believe, but okay.
As with other years, Bey gave fans a sneak peek at her dress before the big event kicked off, posting a single picture to her Instagram showing her posing against a bare grey wall.
And – as the eagle-eyed folks at Buzzfeed noticed – it’s the exact same wall that Queen B has posed next to for three years running.
Here she is last year, again in Givenchy, and again in front of that grim wall with the grey rug:
And in 2014, in a gothic-inspired gown, also by Givenchy:
What gives, Beyoncé?
Well, after some Twitter sleuthing, it appears the wall isn’t some high-fashion Givenchy backdrop, but in fact the side of a service lift at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the Gala takes place annually.
After a night looking downright stunning on the red carpet, it’s back to work for Bey tonight, as she continues with her Formation World Tour with a show in North Carolina. The singer took just one night off for the Met Gala, though she’ll have a few days break from tomorrow on before her next concert in Texas on May 9th.
A pop queen’s work is never done, it seems.
