Aww! The Weeknd Did A Super Sweet Thing For Selena Gomez During Her Kidney Transplant

Selena Gomez revealed yesterday that she had undergone a kidney transplant during the summer, and that her best friend Francia Raisa had donated the organ to her.

Today it’s been revealed that her boyfriend, R&B artist The Weeknd, cancelled some of his gigs in order to be there for her. According to People, the artist (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) rearranged the concerts to support Selena throughout the operation. Aww!

Selena had to have the procedure done as part of her treatment for Lupus, the chronic autoimmune disease she’s been suffering with for years.

The illness is characterised by inflammation of body tissue and organs, and for Selena, it’s been a difficult journey. She even had to cancel her Stars Dance tour in 2013 in order to undergo chemotherapy treatment.

Yesterday the 25-year-old shared a photo of her and Francia lying in their hospital beds, as well as one of her scar. She captioned it, “I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.

“And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

She seems to be recovering well.
