My 30 Day Yoga Challenge Diary: Day 4
UH-OH! Four days in and Laura Somers has had a big blip in her yoga challenge. Here's what happened...
Day Four:
I have a confession to make. I didn’t go to class today.
There, I said it. I messed up, but it’s not my fault, I swear. Okay, well maybe it is a little bit…
I was on my way to class, y’see, lapping up the sunshine as I walked – when I made the (ultimately fatal) decision to get an ice-cream sundae along the way.
Big mistake. As I was scrolling thorough Instagram and devouring my double chocolate sundae I somehow (gulp) managed to talk myself out of going to yoga class. I came to the obvious and natural conclusion that it was absolutely pointless going to class when I had just consumed copious amounts of ice-cream and the sun was beaming outside.
My yoga abandonment had disastrous consequences. As I slowly came out of my food coma I was hit with a guilty conscience, which obviously led to some severe comfort eating.
I definitely wasn’t feeling as calm or as zen as I would on the days I’d practised
Surprisingly, once I had sobered up from my food binge I actually started craving yoga. I was so on edge for the rest of the day because I couldn’t get my fix, and I definitely wasn’t feeling as calm or as zen as I would on the days I’d practise. I even attempted a few poses at home until I realised I wasn’t quite the experienced yogi I thought I was.
So, basically, I won’t be missing another yoga class in the near future.
