Sookie’s Back! Melissa McCarthy Is Returning To Gilmore Girls For The Cutest Reason

Finally! Gilmore Girls addicts, you’ll be delira to hear that the stars (of Stars Hollow) have aligned to give us some very good news indeed.

After months of back-and-forth, Melissa McCarthy has confirmed that she will indeed be returning to reprise her role as Sookie in the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival.

Melissa confirmed the news to Ellen DeGeneres yesterday, in a clip which will air today.

“Literally about an hour and a half ago we figured out that I am going to go back and do it, and I’m so excited,” she told Ellen during the taping.

“Amy Sherman-Palladino [creator of Gilmore Girls] is going to squeeze me in, and I’m so excited to get back to Stars Hollow.”

Even with her busy schedule – Melissa is currently on the promo trail for both The Boss and Ghostbusters – it seems she’s been able to find time to film.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly just a few days ago, Amy said she would have everything ready to go the second Melissa stepped on set.

“I know what the scene is. I’ll pre-light it for her,” she told the magazine.

“She can drive up, run in, shoot it, and run out. I can get her in and out in two hours.”

Only a few months to go! We. Cannot. Wait.
