Spring is here (technically, although the weather may have us believing otherwise), which means we can actually go outside without a million layers on and enjoy ourselves!

If you live in Dublin or feel up to a visit, there’s a number of great food spots and cinemas for cosy date nights and romantic dinners – but there’s also plenty of lovely daytime things to enjoy as the weather gets milder.

Why not get ready to embrace the sweet spring air and try out some of these refreshing date ideas?

Have A Picnic At Malahide Castle & Gardens

The super scenic grounds of Malahide Castle and Gardens are ideal for a date. There’s an enchanting fairy trail through the woods, a beautiful walled garden, and even a butterfly house.

After you’ve explored, you can pop into the Avoca café for a tasty treat – and if the weather is nice enough, why not have a picnic on the parklands and soak up your surroundings?

Visit The Secret Cake Cafe

Show off your local knowledge by bringing your date to this hidden gem. The Cake Cafe is tucked away at the back of The Last Bookshop on Camden Street, and is well known as Dublin’s best-kept secret.

Have a leaf through the varied selection of second-hand books and then head through to enjoy brunch in the magic courtyard. We recommend the french toast – it’s to die for.

See EPIC And Have Coffee By The Water

If you haven’t yet paid a visit to EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum, you’ve got to put it on your list. It’s one of the cooler museums around and has some great interactive features, which makes it perfect for a date!

Once you’ve been cultured, grab a coffee at Bakehouse next door to enjoy as you sit by the docks. Dreamy.

Enjoy Brunch With A View At Layla’s Rooftop

Make full use of the clear skies and enjoy brunch with a view at Layla’s restaurant in Ranelagh, overlooking the Dublin skyline. This romantic rooftop is a hidden oasis and has a drool-worthy menu – what more could you want? Oh yes, bees.

Across the roof, see if you can spot the honeybees in their hives, which were set up to help support local biodiversity and pollinators. How cute is that?

Meander Through The Blackrock Market

If your date is set for the weekend, why not head to the Blackrock market? It’s home to a number of funky stalls with everything from fortune telling to vintage records, so there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

There’s also something for everyone food-wise, with poké bowls, Korean burritos, vegan and veggie cafés, and rolled ice cream. Perfect for foodies.

Stroll Through The Botanic Gardens

What says spring more than fresh flowers? Especially good if you’re still getting to know each other, the botanic gardens offer a beautiful, floral backdrop to wander through as you chat.

There are plenty of winding paths to follow, a glasshouse and herbarium, and a tea room with a panoramic view of the grounds. Plus it’s free! Easy peasy.
