5 Things To Do Every Morning To Have A Deadly Day

Start your day right with these five practices and it'll set you up for a great one - promise!

If you get up on the wrong side of the bed that’s your day ruined but if you get up on the right side you’ve got all the makings for a great day ahead of you and who can say no to that, eh? Here are five things to do to every morning to ensure the next 24 hours are only masso.

1. Morning pages

Putting pen to paper first thing in the morning may sound like a pain, but it’s a surefire way to set yourself up for the day ahead. When you wake up write one to two pages of anything and everything that crosses your mind, whether it’s a quote from the book you’re reading or your daily to-do list. Writing something down first thing in the morning will clear your head, stimulate your brain and help you prioritise for the day ahead.

2. Stop snoozing

Okay, we know this one’s going to be super tough, but bear with us. When it’s cold outside and your alarm first goes off not reaching for the snooze button seems downright impossible but trust us, kick your snooze habit and you’ll have way more energy for the rest of the day. Why so? When your body first wakes up it releases a burst of adrenaline and this makes you instantly alert so if you head back into the land of nod you’re losing that much needed morning boost and messing up your sleep cycle.

3. Let natural light in

Your eyes understandably get quite a fright when you turn on the light after being in darkness for the whole night, right? Well, why not leave your curtains/blinds half open before you go to sleep? The natural light that this lets in in the morning will make the transition from night to day that little bit easier and if it’s sunny it’ll get you out of bed quicker for the day ahead.

4. Avoid your phone first thing

We know you think you’ve missed a tonne of things on your WhatsApp/Facebook/Twitter/Instagram while catching some zeds but nine times out of 10 you haven’t. When you wake up try and avoid your phone or any tech devices for at least half an hour. Giving yourself this solo time in the morning will allow you to gather your thoughts calmly.

5. Meditate

Just in case you haven’t noticed we’re huge fans of getting your zen on at STELLAR and we have good reasons for it. Meditating lets you be present in the moment and be mindful, which is really good for your mental well-being and will help you handle whatever the day has to throw at you too. Take 10 minutes out, along with some deep breaths and visualise your day being totally deadly. We’ll bet you it’ll do the trick!
