Darkness Into Light Is Back With This Powerful Video About Minding Each Other

"Wake up to what you do and say. It affects people more than you realise."

Each year, the Darkness Into Light walk is a beautiful reminder of how important it is to mind our mental health.

This year’s event is taking place on May 12, and hundreds of thousands of people around the world will be getting up at the crack of dawn in support of Pieta House (180,000 did just that in 2017).

The mental health organisation have released a short but powerful video to mark the occasion, with Bressie, Dublin GAA’s Nicole Owens and activist Sinéad Burke all encouraging us to be kinder to one another:

Wake up and realise that with every breath that how we treat each other is a matter of life and death.

“Thanks to the generosity of all our participants and supporters, all of our services remain free, but the demand for them is ever-increasing,” says Brian Higgins, CEO of Pieta House.

“We all need to wake up to the stigmas that lead people to the point of self-harm or suicidal crisis, and subsequently to the doors of Pieta House to seek help.”

If you want to register for the walk, you can do so here – just do it before Friday, May 4 so you can get a spot at your nearest location and receive your Darkness Into Light t-shirt in the post. We’ll see you there!
