In The Nip: Things To Do In The Nude In Ireland

As our annual Naked shoot hits newsstands, we're exploring more ways to make the most of your naked self.

In the current issue of STELLAR – out now! – we showcase our annual Naked shoot, with five fabulous, body confident women. If you’d like to tell us your thoughts on the feature, tweet us using #stellarnaked – we’d love to know what you think. And we also promised you some more in the nip tips, should that take your fancy.

Turns out, Ireland’s quite the desto for getting down with your bare self. Read on.

1. Beach baring

Despite our, er, somewhat inhospitable climate, Irish Central reports that Ireland is gaining a rep for its nudist beaches. No, really. Silver Strand in Barna in Galway, Roundstone in Galway, Brittas in Wicklow and Corballis near Donabate in north county Dublin are just some of the suggestions.

2. Join a club

Club Aquarius is the Leinster-based home of Irish naturism. Meeting twice monthly, at a heated indoor swimming pool on Dublin’s southside, they also organise picnics and garden parties in different scenic locations around Leinster which would normally include a barbeque, lawn games and other fun activities.

3. Be open to opportunities

Artist Spencer Tunick, an American photographer known for organizing large-scale nude shoots, famously shot 1000 bare naked Irish ladies (and gents) back in 2008. If you’d like your stripping off to benefit charity, then get into Dip in the Nip, which raises funds for cancer causes. Check the site for one near you.

4. Get into body positivity

There’s a big groundswell online of women and men fighting back against body shaming. If you’re new to the movement, get educated – during the summer, STELLAR ran a campaign called #StopTheShame, where we celebrated bodies just as they are. Instastars like Tess Holliday are also fighting back, with the #effyourbeautystandards tags, encouraging us to try to accept bodies at all sizes – clothed or naked.
