Taylor Swift Teared Up On Stage On The One Year Anniversary Of Her Sexual Assault Verdict
"This day a year ago was the day the jury sided in my favour and said that they believed me."
One year after her sexual assault case against radio DJ David Mueller, Taylor Swift told fans that she “didn’t know what turn” her life would have taken if she wasn’t believed.
Taylor accused the DJ of putting his hand up her skirt and grabbing her bum during a meet-and-greet in 2013 – she reported him privately to his company and he was fired, leading him to sue her for defamation in 2015.
She countersued him for assault, and her blunt testimony in court was something to behold. When asked why the front of her skirt didn’t look wrinkled in the photo of her and Mueller, she said:
Because my ass is located at the back of my body.
Taylor won the case, ordered Mueller to pay a symbolic $1 in damages, and donated money to charities that support sexual assault victims.

“Looking back, this exact day a year ago, I was not playing a sold out stadium in Tampa, I was in a courtroom in Denver, Colorado,” she told the crowd at a gig in Florida last night.
“I was there for a sexual assault case and this day a year ago was the day the jury sided in my favour and said that they believed me.”
Taylor thanked her fans for supporting her, and paid tribute to all the survivors who had the courage to speak out, as well as those who still feared to do so.
I just think about all the people that weren’t believed, or the people who haven’t been believed, or the people who are afraid to speak up because they don’t think they will be believed. And I just want to say that I’m sorry to everyone who ever wasn’t believed, because I don’t know what turn my life would have taken if people hadn’t believed in me when I said that something happened.
“I just wanted to say that we have so, so, so much further to go and I’m grateful to you guys for being there for me during what was a really horrible part of my life.”
