Why It’s So Important That Molly Mae Is Being Honest About Motherhood

The star opens up about feeling “overwhelmed” by parenthood in emotional video.

From the start of her days on Love Island, Molly Mae Haghue has opened her life up to the public domain, documenting everything for her fans, from her relationship and career to her first pregnancy with daughter Bambi.

The 23 year old released an emotion YouTube Video on Sunday describing to fans how she found parenthood “overwhelming”. Molly Mae detailed how she adored being a mother and the special bond she has with her daughter. However the aftermath of birth and the early stages motherhood were challenging.

The former Lover Island contestant explained how she “doesn’t feel like she’s being herself” since have an induced labour in January and how nothing could have prepared her for the emotional and physical effects of motherhood.

Hague had a more challenging start to parenthood than most, with her boyfriend, boxer Tommy Fury, away for the early weeks of Bambi’s life, preparing to fight influencer Jake Paul in Abu Dhabi in one of the year’s most talked about boxing matches. Molly Mae admits that this took a toll on her during one of the biggest changes in her life.

The Creative Director of Pretty Little Thing went on to explain her struggles with brain fog, urine infections, severe constipation and generally being run-down since giving birth. Whilst the star is generally open about struggles in her life, this is a unique level of vulnerability for mummy-influencers, with many only sharing the highs of motherhood and hiding the challenges associated with pregnancy and parenthood.

Molly Mae’s openness encourages more conversations around motherhood and can help other mothers feel less alone when struggling postnatal. Could we be seeing a new, honest chapter for mummy-influencers?

This isn’t the first time the social media superstar has opened up about the early struggles of motherhood, detailing in her YouTube video ‘My Birth Story’ about her worries of the potential of suffering with postnatal depression, as it was something her own mother suffered after her pregnancies.

Hague insisted that she is happy and ready to return to creating content for YouTube and hopes to get back to her “normal vlogs” very soon.
