3 Hotel Spas Perfect For A Winter Pampering Session
Aaaaaand, relax
The festive season can be low-key chaotic.
Between last minute shopping, mid-week catchups, and finding the time to actually put your tree up, Christmas is the busiest time of year for most people.
So, what better time to treat yourself to a spa day?
Here’s three hotel spas tried and tested by the STELLAR team over the past few months, that are equal parts luxury, soothing, and totally relaxing.
The Spa – Johnstown Estate, Co Meath

If you’re on the hunt for something a little different this winter when it comes to your spa experience, the Johnstown Estate’s new Cryo Experience is a must.
The 60 minute treatment starts off with a back massage using cyro tools to encourage blood circulation, depuffing, and tightening of the skin.
The alternation between hot and cold was unlike anything I’d experienced during a massage, and even though I felt relaxed afterwards, I also felt energised and alert.
The experience includes a sculpting facial, also using cryo tools, before you head back to the state of the art thermal suite for a relax indoors, or outdoors in a hot tub.
Truly, if there’s any better feeling than the cool, crisp air against your skin as you slip into a bubbling rooftop hot tub, I’d like to hear about it.
This winter, the Johnstown Estate is offering a special Cryo Face and Body Experience package, that includes an hour long treatment, access to the thermal suite, and a two-course lunch in the Spa Café. Find out more here.
Lír Spa – Ravenport Resort, Co Wexford

A newer addition to the Irish spa game, Ravenport Resort’s Lír Spa has just launched a new treatment menu – right in time for the festive season.
A stone’s throw from Wexford town, the spa is nestled among the hills of Curracloe and boasts an array of luxury treatments ideal for a winter wind down.
Lír Spa has partnered with French beauty brand Sothys Paris, and they’ve created a gorgeous menu of facials, massages and targetted treatments that will leave your skin (and mind) feeling totally rejuvenated.
A few weeks back I tried the Youth Intensive Treatment, a 75 minute long facial comprised of five steps and eight Sothys formulas that left my skin feeling bouncy and looking super bright.
After the treatment I chilled in the relaxation room and sipped on a prosecco. Truly restorative.
If you’re in the market for something different, Lír Spa also offers a hyaluronic acid facial, a seasonal facial using oxygen and minerals, a thermal treatment, intensive body rituals, and five different massage therapies.
Book yourself a stay in one of Ravenport’s beautiful rooms to complete your stay, and relax all night long. Find out more here.
The Spa – Anantara The Marker, Co Dublin

Five star luxury just does not get better than Anantara The Marker… and if you’ve experienced their spa before, you’ll understand why.
With bespoke signature treatments like the Elemental Herbology Five-Element Aroma Massage and Facial, you’ll indulge in essential oil infusions, warm herbal steam towels, heated stones, and eastern and western massage techniques.
This winter, the spa is offering some new luxurious packages sure to add some calm and rejuvenation to your festive plans.
From the Winter Radiance treatment that includes a high-performance BIOTEC facial and a glass of bubbly, to the Christmas Calm synchronised massage for two, you’ll find no shortage of ways to unwind at Anantara The Marker.
After all of that, spend an hour or two in the state of the art thermal suite. With an infinity pool, saunas, steam rooms, and a relaxation suite, it’s the perfect way to spend a day – alone or together.
I indulged in a day package not long ago, and let me tell you, it was true stillness in the heart of Dublin city. Find out more here.
