A Look At Margot Robbie’s 10-Year Relationship with Tom Ackerley

Margot Robbie welcomed her first child into the world just last week! If you’re like us, you’re eager to learn more about her lucky husband and how their past ten years together in life and film have led to this special moment.

Is it just us, or did we not know she had a husband? But yes, Margot has been with filmmaker Tom Ackerley for 10 years! And somehow, we were basically unaware of the guy.

Tom’s from the UK, and he actually co-founded his own production company. Impressive. The company, Luckychap, helped produce some of Margot’s biggest movies like Barbie and I, Tonya.

As for the two working on projects together, Margot actually enjoys it, stating, “I’m a great advocate for doing business with your partner.”

Let’s take a brief look back at their relationship so far.

2014 – Margot and Tom first meet

The two met back in 2014 on the set of Suite Française, where Tom was an assistant director.

If you think that Tom was the one pursuing Margot, you’d be wrong, as it was actually Margot who made the first move.

The star told Vogue that she was the one to tell him she liked him, following a blossoming friendship between the two. Turns out Barbie isn’t afraid to pursue a guy, and neither should you be, ladies.

2016 – Gold Coast marriage

The two got married on the Australian Gold Coast back in 2016 with a pretty bohemian-chic wedding. It was a private occasion that they debuted on Instagram with a simple but effective post by Margot.

You might remember it – that iconic photo of Margot giving the finger mid-kiss with her newly declared husband. Only it wasn’t the middle finger; it was her ring finger.

The two made sure to keep their relationship under wraps even following the announcement of their secret wedding, not making a public appearance together until 2017 on the press run for I, Tonya.

2018 – Big no to kids

Back in 2018, Margot revealed in an interview with Porter that having kids was the last thing on her mind at the moment, stating, “No! Definitely not.”

She spoke about the couple’s decision to adopt dogs and said, “If anything, you are now cementing in my mind that we cannot have kids. I can’t cope with two puppies, let alone children! Definitely not at the moment. That’s 100 percent certain.”

2023 – Tom gets cute online

Although Tom was a producer on the set of Barbie, he made sure to let Margot have her moment during the press run, often choosing to stay out of photos and join her on the red carpets for only a couple of special events.

However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t her biggest fan. While Margot unfortunately deleted her Instagram in recent years, Tom has kept his, occasionally sharing glimpses of their modest and down-to-earth life, along with pictures from gatherings with friends and family.

Tom adorned his wife when accepting an award from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts for Barbie, saying, “I want to thank the two most important people in bringing this to life: yes, Greta Gerwig, and my brilliant, sensational, groundbreaking wife, Margot. Together, you both entertained the world. You also both changed the world. So thank you.”

2024 baby bump spotted

Not long after the Barbie frenzy subsided, Margot was spotted in Lake Como with a noticeable baby bump, and just last week, news broke that she had given birth.

The name has yet to be revealed to the press, but we couldn’t be happier for Margot!

It’s been an incredible two years for the Australian star, and we’re eager to hear all about her pregnancy journey when she chooses to share it with us.
