It’s official, Amanda Bynes’ nine-year conservatorship has been terminated.

The request to terminate the conservatorship was granted at Ventura County Superior Court in California on Tuesday of this week.

Amanda’s lawyer, David A. Esquibias, released a statement by Amanda which was obtained by PEOPLE, stated: “Following today’s decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time.

“I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.”

She then added: “In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter.

“I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can.”

The star was placed under her conservatorship in 2013 after she was held in an involuntary psychiatric hold after allegedly starting a small fire in her neighbour’s garden.

Her mother Lynn Bynes gained legal control of her medical, personal and financial matters under the conservatorship.

Amanda rose to fame with her own Nickelodeon show The Amanda Show in the early 2000s and continued to appear on the big screen for many years to come in classic rom-coms such as She’s The Man and the film version of Hairspray and Penny Pingleton.

Her mother, Lynn, is reportedly supportive of Amanda’s request to end the agreement. Lynn’s attorney Tamar Arminak told E! News, “Lynn is so incredibly proud of the progress Amanda has made over the last few years and is so excited about the next chapter in Amanda’s life.

“Based on the petition, and Amanda’s amazing progress, she completely supports Amanda’s request to terminate the conservatorship.”
