Amanda Bynes is back on Instagram and has used her platform to speak out for the first time since filing to end her conservatorship.

Sharing a video to her feed, Amanda shared: “What’s up, Instagram? Amanda Bynes here.

“My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out.”

The news came late last month that Amanda had filed to end her conservatorship after nearly nine years.

The star was placed under her conservatorship in 2013 after she was held in an involuntary psychiatric hold after allegedly starting a small fire in her neighbour’s garden.

Her mother Lynn Bynes gained legal control of her medical, personal and financial matters under the conservatorship.

Amanda rose to fame with her own Nickelodeon show The Amanda Show in the early 2000s and continued to appear on the big screen for many years to come in classic rom-coms such as She’s The Man and the film version of Hairspray and Penny Pingleton.

Her mother, Lynn, is reportedly supportive of Amanda’s request to end the agreement. Lynn’s attorney Tamar Arminak told E! News, “Lynn is so incredibly proud of the progress Amanda has made over the last few years and is so excited about the next chapter in Amanda’s life.

“Based on the petition, and Amanda’s amazing progress, she completely supports Amanda’s request to terminate the conservatorship.”

The hearing on the request is scheduled to go ahead on March 22nd.

The star was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2014 and has suffered from drug abuse over the years. She celebrated four years of sobriety in 2018 although in March 2019 she checked into rehab following a stress-induced relapse.
