Are We Getting a Charli XCX And Sam Smith Collab?

We’ve had the Barbie soundtrack on repeat this summer, and Charli XCX’s song Speed Drive is one of our faves from the album.

Now nearly a month after the release of the film, the 1999 singer has dropped the music video for the tune; and it’s got a surprising cameo!

The guest appearance comes in the form of a phone call from fellow musician Sam Smith (who also features on the Barbie album).

Dressed in a pink satin robe, Sam asks Charli “Did you have a chance to listen to the new mix, babe? What did you think?”

Charli responds, “I’m actually on set of a music video right now”, prompting Sam to say that they have to “submit it so we can get it out”.

Charli suggests to Sam “Maybe I can call you back right after and we can talk, is that good?”

“Love it,” Sam replies.

After the video came out, Sam tweeted the clip with a telephone emoji, sending fans into a spiral.
